Kallithea Springs, Ladiko and Anthony Quinn Bay: the perfect half day by scooter

If you have only one free morning in Rhodes town, this is the ride. Three very different stops — Italian-era architecture, a quiet pebble cove and the island's most famous turquoise bay — all on a short, easy coastal road. Distances are approximate; the whole loop is about 35 km.

08:30 – Kallithea Springs (about 10 km)

Leave town on the east-coast road towards Faliraki and turn off at the Kallithea sign. The 1920s spa complex with its domes, mosaics and pebble floors opens early; the small cove in front has crystal water and a few sunbeds. There is a car park at the entrance where a scooter is parked in seconds. Go first thing: by 11:00 the tour buses arrive.

10:00 – Ladiko Bay (about 4 km further)

Back on the main road, past Faliraki, follow the signs to Ladiko. Two small bays share one access road: the pebble side is calmer and has a taverna right on the water. Snorkelling is excellent along the rocks on the right. Parking is at the end of the road, next to the taverna.

11:00 – Anthony Quinn Bay

Next door, named after the actor who fell in love with it while filming The Guns of Navarone. The bay is tiny, the water is impossibly green, and the pines come down to the shore. Arrive before noon or after 16:00; between those hours it is packed. Park at the top in the paid car park and walk down the steps — on a scooter you will always find a corner.

Lunch

Ladiko's taverna for fish by the water, or ride 5 minutes back to Faliraki for more choice. If you still have energy, Seven Springs and Tsambika are 20 minutes further south — or save them for another half day.

Practical

  • A 125cc scooter is ideal for this loop; two-up, pick a 300cc for the extra comfort. See our scooters and ATV.
  • Bring water shoes: Ladiko and Anthony Quinn are pebble beaches.
  • Petrol stations are plentiful on this stretch — no need to plan fuel.
  • Combine with the Water Park for a family day, or with the full east-coast route to Lindos if you start early.
