Rhodes in 3 days on two wheels: an itinerary that covers the best of the island
Three days is the sweet spot for Rhodes: enough to see the island properly without rushing. This itinerary assumes you are based in or near Rhodes town with a scooter or ATV delivered to your hotel. Swap days freely; distances are approximate.
Day 1 – Rhodes town and the beaches next door (about 40 km)
Morning: the medieval Old Town before the heat — park outside the walls and follow our 2-hour walking loop through the Street of the Knights and the Palace. Lunch in the New Market or at Mandraki harbour. Afternoon: ride 10 km south to the Kallithea Springs for a swim among the Italian-era domes, then Anthony Quinn Bay for the late light. Evening: sunset from the Monte Smith hill above town, then dinner back in the Old Town.
Day 2 – The east coast to Lindos (about 120 km)
The classic. Leave by 08:30, coffee at Afandou beach, a swim at Tsambika, then up to Lindos by 11:00 before the heat: the Acropolis, the white village, St Paul's Bay. Lunch on a Lindos rooftop. Day 3 – The west coast loop (about 110 km)
A different island: greener, quieter, windier. Valley of the Butterflies (June–September), Ancient Kamiros on its hillside, lunch at the fish tavernas of Kameiros Skala and the Knights' castle of Kritinia with its view over Chalki. Go south: Pefkos and the quiet beaches beyond Lindos — see the quiet south — or make it a lazy beach day at Faliraki and Ladiko.
Which vehicle for this plan
- Solo: a 300cc scooter handles all three days comfortably; a 125cc is fine for day 1 and okay for the rest.
- Couple: the 650cc ATV or a 400cc maxi scooter — days 2 and 3 are long and you will thank yourself.
