Insurance, deposit and damage: what is actually covered when you rent a scooter or ATV in Rhodes
Renting a two-wheeler on holiday should feel light, not like signing a mortgage. Here is how it works with us, in plain words. The legally binding version is in our rental terms; this article explains them.
What the included insurance covers
Every rental includes third-party liability insurance, as required by Greek law: damage you may cause to other people or their property is covered. Basic cover for the vehicle itself is also included, with an excess (the maximum you pay if the vehicle is damaged). The exact excess per vehicle class is on the vehicle page and in the contract you sign at handover.
Is there a deposit?
For scooters and motorbikes we do not block a deposit on your card. For the ATV a small refundable security amount may apply; it is shown before you book, never a surprise at pickup.
A scratch, a drop, a dent
Minor damage happens — a tip-over in a car park, a scraped mirror. You pay the repair cost up to the excess, never more, and we show you the price list for common parts. Damage caused while breaking the rules (riding without a helmet, lending the vehicle to someone not on the contract, riding under the influence, or on surfaces the contract excludes) is not covered — the same as with every rental company on the island.
Theft
Always use the steering lock and take the key with you. If the vehicle is stolen despite that, you are liable up to the excess only, provided you return the key and report it to the police with us.
Breakdown or accident
Call or WhatsApp us first. For a mechanical fault that is not your doing, we bring a replacement vehicle anywhere on the island at no cost. In an accident, make sure everyone is safe, call the police for a report if another vehicle is involved, photograph everything, and we handle the insurance paperwork with you.
The handover photo record
At delivery we photograph the vehicle together, note the fuel and odometer and record any existing marks; you sign the condition report on a tablet and receive the PDF by email. At return we do the same. This protects both sides: you are never charged for a scratch that was already there.
Helmets and licences
Two helmets are included and wearing them is compulsory. Riding with a licence that does not match the engine size voids the insurance — see how renting works for the A1/A2/A/B rules, and our driving tips if it is your first time on a quad.
Questions we have not answered? The FAQ covers the rest, or message us before you book — we would rather explain now than argue later. Live prices and availability are on the vehicles page.
